Iplex Pipelines is a leading manufacturer and supplier of plastic pipeline systems in Australasia. Iplex manufactures and supplies pipeline systems from 15mm up to 3000mm in diameter for a diverse range of applications including: Water Supply, Sewerage, Plumbing, Gas, Stormwater, Irrigation, Telecommunications, Electrical, Mining and Industrial. Iplex operates manufacturing facilities located in every Australian State, NZ and Singapore.

Founded in 1938 as Iplex Plastics the company played a leading role in the development of plastic components over many years.
Then in 1962, Iplex was a pioneer in the introduction of plastic pipes. Many firsts followed - including the introduction of moulded PVC
plumbing fittings, dual hardness rubber ring joints for PVC pressure pipes, Blue Brute uPVC Pressure Pipes, Rhino modified PVC pressure
pipes, the Pro-fit polybutylene hot and cold water plumbing system and HOBAS centrifugally cast GRP pipes. Now taken for granted, each of these developments, at the time, represented a major advance in the acceptance and use of plastics in pipelines.
Iplex Pipelines, known at the time as James Hardie Pipelines, was sold by James Hardie Industries on 1st October 1997 to a joint venture
owned 75% by the Crane Group and 25% by the Netherlands-based company Wavin.
The Crane Group is a publicly listed Australian company which was originally founded 130 years ago.
Today it is a leading manufacturer of non-ferrous metal products and plastic pipes and fittings.
It is also the largest distributor of plumbing supplies in Australasia, with more than 200 stores - trading as Tradelink in Australia -
and Mico Wakefield in New Zealand. The company is known for its sound strategic direction and clear focus on satisfying customer needs.
Wavin is a large European producer of plastic pipeline systems.
In March 2006 the Crane Group acquired the remaining 25% of Iplex from Wavin.

All Iplex manufacturing plants have ISO 9002 quality assurance programs. Quality Assurance Services (QAS) carries out regular audits to provide third party accreditation of the company's Quality Management Systems and verify its ongoing compliance with this Standard.

Iplex has a long-term technology supply arrangement with Wavin. Iplex also maintains close associations with other industry
leaders around the world to ensure the latest innovations are available to customers. Iplex also undertakes its own product and technological development, aimed at meeting the specific requirements of local conditions and projects in Australia and New Zealand. For example, the development of Thermapipe co-extruded white PE pipe, with its high solar heat reflectivity, has proved to be invaluable for above ground pressure pipes in many remote mining developments in the hotter climatic regions of Australia.
